Horizon Institute for Complex Systems

Non-equilibrium statistical physics, theoretical biophysics, and computational modeling.

The Horizon Institute for Complex Systems is an independent academic research initiative based in Auckland, New Zealand. The institute is dedicated to foundational and computational research at the interface of non-equilibrium statistical physics, theoretical biophysics, and complex dynamical systems.

Our objective is to advance fundamental physical principles and quantitative modeling frameworks to investigate state transitions and multi-scale dynamics across complex physical and biological environments.

Non-Equilibrium Physics & Statistical Foundations

Formulating rigorous mathematical and physical principles to investigate energy dissipation, fluctuation phenomena, and state transitions in complex open systems far from thermodynamic equilibrium.

Theoretical Biophysics & Physiological Dynamics

Investigating multi-scale coupling mechanisms, regulatory dynamics, and functional stability across complex biological structures and integrative physiological systems.

Computational Frameworks & Empirical Data Validation

Developing reproducible numerical frameworks to validate theoretical models across complex real-world dynamics, spanning open empirical repositories, observational datasets, and biomedical databases.
